Sasha's Dedication

Sunday was the day I've been waiting, dreaming, and hoping for since we started this adoption journey - Sasha's dedication! I can't really explain it, but I always looked forward to her dedication as the time when she was really home, for good, ours. Standing with our church family, welcoming her into our congregation and dedicating her life and upbringing to the Lord was as sweet as I hoped it would be.

Our church is every bit our family in Utah. They stood with us, prayed with us, and cried with us during this long road to adoption. They were strong for us and believed in hope even when I couldn't. And now they stand with us with joy and open arms as we welcome Sasha home and pledge to support and encourage us as we raise our children in Truth.

I think back on all of those "waiting in hope" verses I memorized during the long months of paper-pregnancy. They grew and are growing fruit in my heart and I am grateful for the person I'm becoming because of our adoption adventure.
Relax, everything's going to be all right;
rest, everything's coming together;
open your hearts, love is on the way!

Welcome home, Alexandra Grace.

I still remember Leeza's baptism at our church vividly. Our minister took her from me and walked her up and down the aisle, while the congregation sang "Jesus Loves me" and I had tears streaming down my cheeks. I know exactly how you felt. My friends said they totally "lost it" when they saw me crying-and the minister told me later "there is nothing more beautiful than a mother's happy tears"

AMEN!
