Time Machine

I got home from work today to find the kids playing animatedly with their new time machine. Ben was going back to dinosaur times, Sasha was getting pushed around the living room, and Sam was busy improving it (the last enhancement was the coin slot that he's demonstrating in this picture. He desperately wanted me to get a knife so that it could be a real slot but I did draw the line at cutting boxes with knives while his sister was inside).

It's amazing what fun you can have with a box, three kids, a Sharpie, and a little inspiration from Calvin and Hobbes. This particular "time macheen" (yes, we have had others) is labeled specifically "for sam and Ben" so I think it's especially nice that they let their sister have a whirl in it. It has settings for "past, "present", and "future", as well as a "Duplickiter" button. I'm hoping that last one doesn't work - three children is quite enough for right now, thank you very much.

Fortunately, all three children made it back from their adventures in time for dinner, so I'm guessing that they didn't kill their great great grandfathers or meet themselves in the future and cause a rift in the space-time continuum. We'll leave that for another day.
