First Date

What three things are missing from this picture?

I'll give you a hint - they're short, often messy, and almost always loud.

That's right, last night Steve and I went on a bonafide date - just the two of us - to see Wicked up in Salt Lake! I bought tickets months and months ago when they first went on sale and decided that, come hell or high water, we were going to be ready for a date on April 29th.

Fabulous, wonderful, saintly friends of ours let all three of our kids hang out at their house for the evening and we really couldn't have asked for a better first babysitting experience for Sasha. She did wonderfully, the boys were (reportedly) very well behaved, and Mommy and Daddy had a fantastic evening enjoying truly the best in musical theater.

Admittedly it was hard to leave Sasha - hard for Mom and Dad, not hard for Sasha who was merrily playing away with a whole house full of fun new toys! She was glad to see us when we got back from the show, but wasn't panicked or frantic, and she was clingy today, but nothing more than you'd expect after an action-packed previous day. I tell you, that kid is a trooper!

you look so beautiful! so glad you could have a fun nite out-hard to do, but worth it!! i have loved reading your blog and marveling at the life you all have when in my mind, you are still in high school and i am a young hip college student (oh i WAS hip sister, quit that snickering!!) we're all grown up now, when did that happen??? i'm so glad we have gotten re-connected thru the blogosphere and the miracle of adoption! i have sasha's surgery on my calendar to pray for all of y'all!!

that is awesome!! good for you guys. Isn't Wicked AMAZING???

We have left Leeza quite a few times now with friends-and she cries when we leave, but always has so much fun and it's really good for her I think to learn that MOmmy and DAddy may leave-but we always come back. :)

Last weekend-we had Sean's football game Friday night (and I learned real quick that if I wanted to be able to pay attn at all to Sean, I had to find someone to watch Leeza :) ) then Saturday night we went to go see Jimmy Buffett so she stayed with another friend.
What makes you feel good is when you come get them at the end of the night and your freinds tell you "sorry,we're keeping her!"

Just as I am sure you felt when your got such a good report on your kiddo's. :)

good for you guys-looks like you had a blast. :)

So glad you got out, just the two of you! How could she do badly with big brothers watching out for her. She's a Morningstar and you all know how to have fun anywhere!

That is wonderful! Glad you were able to have some "mommy and daddy" time. I think we all agree it is important, but how many of us actually go on dates on a regular basis? Something to strive for I guess. :)

I applaud you! Taking the time to spend with each other must be getting harder and harder, but its good you made it a priority to enjoy each other again! I'm glad Sasha did so well. Trooper she is! I don't know why I just reverted to Yoda talk. Me go now.

Jody, you totally crack me up. Of course you were hip, you were in *college*! Plus you had curly hair and I always wanted curly hair.

And now we're all grown up... except that it doesn't feel that way at all :)
