One Year Ago Today

One year ago today a new shared list for the China Waiting Child Program was published and we first locked eyes with this scared and puzzled little girl who would become our daughter.

It's been a year of changes and excitement and growth and lots of love and laughs for each of us and we are so grateful for the diligence of WACAP (our adoption agency) in finding WanYing and walking us through the myriad steps and bureaucracies required to bring us to her, to her fostercare sponsor Laura and her caregivers at the Shangrao Social Welfare Institute
for caring for her physical and emotional needs for her first two years, and to the God who first loved us and gave us the strength and courage and abundant love to pursue WanYing and welcome her home.

It's been such a joy to see those scared and puzzled eyes transform into windows into WanYing's soul that reflect her humor and security and confidence and a whole lot of spunk.

I can't believe that our journey to each other began just one short year ago.  It feels like forever - in all the best ways :)

What a difference a year makes! We're on our journey to our fabulous soon-to-be two year old in China (also from the shared list) (in the can't stand the waiting phase of the wait for LOA). I love "hearing" about WanYing as our daughter will probably be between 2 and 2 1/2 when we finally get to China. When I stress myself out about toddler adoption, I can look at WanYing smiling back at me, comfortably surrounded by her siblings and I know we'll get there, too.

To see her referral picture and the recent picture at Disney is just incredible!! She's thriving, and happy, and lively and gorgeous, and so inspiring and comforting to this nervous mama! Thank you SO much for sharing this! Congratulations on all your family has achieved in this year!!
