New Words, New Foods

Sasha has so many words now that it's hard to keep track of them all! Here she is signing "yogurt" (a family favorite) - it's hard to see in the picture, but her little hand makes a vague Y shape and she shakes it all around. It's easy to teach her signs for foods she finds as delicious as yogurt!

Let's see - what's the total word count now? Mama, Papa, more, again, all done, banana, cookie, yogurt, duck, chicken (these are adorable), bath, potty, drink, food, milk, water. Looks like 16! We're currently working on soup and oatmeal (two more favorites) and wash (not such a favorite, unless it's in a bath).

And as if you needed any more proof that Sasha was born to be a Morningstar, she has developed a deep love for Beefaroni. I know this is probably uncool to admit, but even I enjoy a can of the Chef Boyardee occasionally. I do emerge from my meal a bit tidier than Sasha, however. At least she likes it warm - Ben prefers his Beefaroni cold and there is little in this world more disgusting looking than a bowl of cold Beefaroni.

Wow!! Quite the vocabulary! I just got a cute book for teaching toddlers to sign. It's from Scholastic and it's a pop-up book. Each page has one big pop-up showing a sign and then smaller pictures with tabs to pull. Some of the pictures are a little freaky (as pop up babies tend to be!) but Abby LOVES the tabs! It's called Baby Signs: A popup book (original title, eh?)

I have to agree with you on the cold beefaroni. Still laughing on that one!

That is so awesome that she's picking up words so quickly. I love seeing the pictures, because while you're capturing the signs, we also get to see the delightful expression of hope, wonderment, and accomplishment in her face. It's priceless!
