Flicks at the Drive-In

On Friday we celebrated the end of the school year with a double feature at the drive in! Our closest drive in is 45 minutes away (lame!) but it has six screens, each of which has a double feature every night, so it's well worth the drive. Plus, when you have the best drive-in vehicle known to man, you just have to show her off!

We saw Up and earth. Well, more accurately, we all saw Up (which was absolutely fabulous) and we each saw a portion of earth but everybody ended up taking a bit of a nap through one part of the movie or another. Sasha was very reluctant to settle down because the movie had both birds and dogs (and elephants, which she also calls dogs), so it was an instant winner for her.

Besides the monumental occasion of her first movie in a theater, Sasha made two other important discoveries Friday night: 1. Twizzlers rock and 2. She can climb the ladder up to Rainy's upper bed on her own. Sheer bliss! And shirts covered in Twizzler drool come clean in the laundry, right?

This photo was supposed to illustrate my children's darling rainbow of Crocs, but instead mostly just shows off Sasha's double-fisted Twizzler action.

We had a great time at the drive in, and Sam has set a summertime goal of at least one drive-in movie night per month, so there are surely more to come!

Great idea! I'm going to see what is on our local one. I had totally forgotten about it. Thanks entertainment director Jamie!

Drive ins are the best! If you want to find one nearby check out www.driveinmovies.com. Of course then I found one that was SUPPOSED to open in our area and didn't... how depressing!

Oh, the drive in movies bring back memories!!! My mom used to make homemade popcorn (the old fashioned way on the stove) and put it in a brown paper bag. Add a little salt and butter and shake like crazy. (Although the butter did leak through to bag a bit.) :)

You, Sam & Sasha are all right. With a 'made for drive in' contraption like that, you've just gotta go to the movies once per month AND bring Twizzlers!
