Day 18 - Moving Day!*

*This post was updated with photos and additional info after adoption

Hip, hip, hooray, we are in our apartment! And it is simply glorious. We have done three loads of laundry, which basically means that we have washed every article of clothing we brought. Steve got dial-up working, so we can email and post from home. We went grocery shopping and cooked pasta for dinner! Pasta! Boiled on our very own stove! Yes, we are basically living the dream right now.

We went grocery shopping with our interpreter and got all of the essentials - yogurt, Nesquick cereal, milk, carbonated milk (yes, this sounds totally nasty to me as well, but Steve insisted that we try it), wine, vodka, and beer (when in Kazakhstan!), $5 boxes of mac and cheese (still a bargain in my book), a frozen pizza!, pasta, sauce, hot dogs, and laundry detergent. I thought I already had purchased laundry detergent and was very proud of my self-sufficiency, but it turns out that I was washing our clothes in the hotel sink in fabric softener. Sigh. Oh well, they obviously got clean enough for our standards!

We'll have to take photos around the apartment and give you a virtual tour sometime in the next couple of days.

The big hit yesterday with Sestra was my travel hairbrush. We all got our hair brushed (toddler-style) several times, including the doll. They use combs in the baby house (when you only have a half inch of hair, you don't really need a brush) and so I think that the brush was really novel to her. Plus it pops in and out and has a mirror on the other side! Basically, it's an all-in-one toddler entertainment center.

Still waiting for a pre-court date, hopefully we'll hear something Monday.

Prayer request: We are feeling a ton better, thanks so much for your prayers and encouragement. The joy of being in our own place has really done our hearts good. We sure appreciate your continued prayers for our health, energy, and the ability to simply enjoy the present because there is so very much to love about the here and now.

You guys sound fantastic! I'm so glad you were able to move into your apartment and enjoy yourselves. The detergent versus softener story is pretty funny. At least you know you smelled good and felt soft. :-)

I used fabric softener for a week too :)
Have you tried the street meat chicken across from the baby house. It was our favorite! We would pick one up & make mac n cheez to go with it. We used the left overs for sandwiches or tacos.

Glad that you are in an apartment, it will make life so much easier!!!! Hopefully you don't have a little girl running overhead for 3 hours a night like we did. At first it was funny but after a while it became annoying.

That's great about the apartment! I don't know how you did it in the hotel for so long. Now it's off to court and you'll be home before you know it!
