(de)Construction Begins!

The astute observer may detect a subtle difference in our home between this morning and this evening:

It is astounding how quickly one's home can be 1/3 dismantled!

We are so very excited. We've been thinking, planning, and pricing this remodel for over a year and it's finally happening! It all started with planning to re-side the aluminum siding... and then we started thinking about what we would really like our house to look like if we put a little more money into it... and then we started dreaming about what we would really, really want from our house and, well, we ended up with this:

We are so, so excited.  We're gaining a massive space to store bikes and gear, a mud room (we only have one coat closet now, and that is completely insufficient for a family of six skiers and cyclists), an extra 16 feet in the garage for storage and workshop space, plus a sunroom off the back and a new covered patio!

Steve's been working basically full-time to empty out our garage in preparation for today, and we're so stoked that the (de)construction has begun!

In one day the crew took down the patio and garage - whoa. Tomorrow, the concrete removal begins, and we'll see how good those noise-canceling headphones really are!

Also, if anybody is wondering how much space the materials for one full garage take up, it's almost exactly the volume of one gigantic dumpster!
